Experience why Rebild Bakker has got its name "Bakker" when you come up to Sønderkol, which is the highest point in Rebild Bakker.
At the top of Sønderkol you will find perhaps one of Denmark's most beautiful views. When you have reached the top of Sønderkol, you stand up at an altitude of 103 meters above sea level and can see right down to Lindenborg Å at the bottom of Gravlev Ådal, which is 9 meters above sea level.
There are few places in Denmark where you experience so many meters of altitude in such a short distance. Enjoy the magnificent view and imagine the landscape of more than 2000 years ago compared to the view today.
Sønderkol is a so-called "false hill" created by deep meltwater channels that were formed just after the Ice Age. Rebild Bakker is more of a "hole" in the ground than hills up in the landscape, but seen from below they are impressive and create these altitude meters that Rebild Bakker is known for.
Sønderkol is part of Rebild Bakker Ruten, where you start by hiking up Sønderkol. From the top, you can see the Pot – where every year on July 4 there is a major celebration of American Independence Day.
Sønderkol is a 5-minute walk from RebildPorten, where you can also park.
