Males have a completely black plumage and an orange or yellow beak, whereas females are more brown and have a dark beak.
Living with people
Blackbirds have become accustomed to living close to humans. In the forest, the birds typically nest in thickets, on stumps or in green ravines, but in gardens they often build nests in hedges.
Blackbirds are adept at imitating other people's sounds. Blackbird males can, among other things, imitate each other's song motifs. Likewise, the juveniles can take over the parents' songs. Blackbirds have become accustomed to living and moving around with humans. In fact, to such an extent that some birds imitate man-made sounds.
