Experience Borremose Fortress in Aars, which was a village throughout the Bronze and Iron Ages.
Refuge for the Cimbri, established in the Bronze Age, used until around 125 BC. In the Iron Age, it was used for ordinary habitation.
The fortified village of Borremose, located 4 km southeast of Aars, lay hidden in the marsh for 2000 years. Archaeological excavations revealed a village surrounded by a moat and an inner wall. A paved road leads to the village, where today you can see the outlines of the many longhouses from the time of the Cimbri.
In the surrounding marsh, bog bodies, shoes, well-preserved clothing, weapons, and more have been found. Some of these finds are exhibited at the Vesthimmerlands Museum.
