The Landscape Sculpture in Tørskind Gravel Pit. In a former gravel pit in the Vejle Valley, one of Denmark's few landscape sculptures is located, created by Robert Jacobsen and Jean Clareboudt.
The landscape sculpture was created in the last half of the 1980s by Denmark's Great Robert, the visual artist Robert Jacobsen, who lived in Tågelund near Tørskind, and his French colleague Jean Clareboudt. Clareboudt had the overall responsibility for planning the gravel pit area and organized nature in such a way that, when walking through the area, one can follow the sun's path from sunrise in the east to sunset in the west.
Both Clareboudt's and Robert Jacobsen's monumental sculptures engage us as small individuals in the vastness of nature and in a dialogue between heaven and earth. All sculptures are crafted from natural materials: concrete (sand and stone), iron, granite stones, and wood. The landscape and sculptures are meant to be experienced as one artwork, consisting of nine individual sculptures but forming a cohesive whole.
Both the gravel pit and the view of the nearby Vejle Valley offer new experiences with each visit, depending on the time of day and the season the gravel pit is visited.
