The shelter site is located on Himmerlandsstien and Hærvejen by the Himmerland Heaths.

The Himmerland Heaths are the remains of a heath area that until the 1800s stretched from the Limfjord to Rold Forest.

At the shelter site, a yellow route passes by, where you pass a vantage point on the trip, on which you can still get a sense of how desolate and vast the heath was. There is also a unique wildlife with 36 different species of butterflies.
