The campsite is located on the outskirts of the village of Skivum.

Skivum is a village with between 100 and 150 inhabitants.

The shelter site is located close to Skivum Krat, which is one of Denmark's most significant erosion valleys. In several places, erosion has created height differences of more than 40 meters. The slopes are in many places untouched, and it is said that parts are actually still part of the old Danish primeval forest.

In the past, it was very common for livestock to graze in the forest. The growth was bitten off and the landscape was kept open. Hence the crooked oak trees. Today, the habitat type is maintained and the growth of unwanted trees and shrubs is removed. There are also grasslands, marshes and marshes with valuable flora.
