In the middle of Rold Forest is Madum Lake.
Madum Lake is a freshwater lake, which, due to low algae growth, means that the water is quite clear. The lake is visited every summer by many both Danish and foreign tourists, as it is also a good swimming lake with a sandy bottom and shallow water a few meters out.
At the lake there are two marked beaches with associated parking spaces and toilet buildings.
However, Madum Lake is not an ordinary lake. The lake has several exciting myths associated with it. In the story below, you can hear about a lost knight's castle, which is believed to be located at the bottom of the lake. In addition, there are stories about a troll who, in anger, threw a huge stone that can still be seen close to the lake. And then there is something about some mysterious lights that some people believe to have seen at night at the lake. Is there something haunting out there?
