On the occasion of the Tour de France, a new rune stone was placed in Jelling. Explore the beautiful stone that stands centrally in Jelling.
Gorm the Old did it, and Harald Bluetooth did it; Erected a stone in Jelling over their great achievements. Now the town of Jelling has also erected a stone. A stone over the achievements of the Tour de France riders and celebrates the tour's visit in 2022. A stone that in its design sends a greeting back to the legacy of the Viking kings and at the same time is modern in its expression and shows that the Tour de France leaves its mark on the area.
The idea for the stone comes from the collaborative group Jelling Fester, which supports the city's Tour de France activities. The coordinator of the work on the rune stone is Karen Vognsen from Kongernes Jelling, and the artist is the stone and sculptor Filip Møller. The stone, which was created with support from the Jelling Savings Bank Foundation, will be placed at an appropriate distance from the Vikings' rune stone, namely on the corner between Fårupvej and Mølvangvej, where the Tour de France peloton passed by.
