Distinctive burial mound as an ancient monument. The protected burial mound can be seen from the nearby gravel road.
Close to the gravel road Brunshøj and in the middle of a field is the burial mound Brunhøj, which is believed to have been 2 mounds and 10-11 m long in an east-west direction and 5-6 m in a north-south direction, and thus somewhat larger than we can see today. The mound structure is believed to have been larger and it has been somewhat damaged over time. Today it is overgrown with grass and heather. At the top, there are triangulation stones that were used for altitude measurements before we went digital. The burial mound is protected, but has not been excavated.
The burial mound Brunhøj has been significant in the landscape, and has been deliberately placed near busy places. The Ancient Road is believed to have passed close by here in ancient times
Today's Hærvej hikers pass Brunhøj on the southern edge of Stursbøl Plantation, where Øster Lindetvej and Slevadvej intersect. At the intersection you will be able to see Brunhøj to the north.
There is no connecting walking path over to the burial mound, so it can only be viewed from the gravel road.
