In 1525 Hans Tausen came to Viborg where he at "Gråbrødre Kirkegård" (churchyard) preached the thoughts of reformation. In 1529 he became the vicar of this place.
A small park was established in 1836 and was opened in connection with the 300 years anniversary of the reformation. A monument for Hans Tausen, made by the sculptor H. E. Freund from Copenhagen was unveiled.
The small park, which is the oldest of Viborg, was rearranged in 1946 according to the ideas of landscape gardener C. Th. Sørensen from Copenhagen.
