Restaurant Slettestrand is a lovely place to settle in after a day by the sea. Here you’ll find homemade food in relaxed surroundings, with a focus on local ingredients, the seasons, and “food made with care” — where both taste and good conscience have room.
At Restaurant Slettestrand, the kitchen is built around seasonal ingredients from local producers. Quality and flavour are at the heart of everything, but they also choose ingredients with animal welfare, resource use, organic options, and proximity in mind.
“Food made with care” isn’t just a slogan on the wall. The restaurant works with three clear guiding principles: local seasonal produce, respect for nature, animals and people, and less food waste. That means, among other things, planning and setting up the buffet in a way that reduces waste — and using ingredients smartly, so leftovers can be turned into new dishes.
On the menu, you may also find flavours from the nature around Slettestrand - such as berries, mushrooms, and herbs, foraged with care. The kitchen also takes a greener approach, where many dishes are built around a “vegetables first” idea: lots of greens, plus a smaller selection of high-quality meat or fish.
Room for children and special needs
The restaurant is family-friendly, with an indoor play corner and a large outdoor playground. There isn’t a separate children’s menu, because the buffet is designed so kids can find their favourites too - and if your child has special needs, you’re welcome to contact the restaurant in advance.
Accessibility has also been considered: the restaurant is fully accessible, and the team does what they can to accommodate dietary requirements and any need for extra space at the table.
Certified assistance dogs are welcome indoors; other dogs are referred to the terrace.
