From the sea and up into the heights and down again through lush meadows. On this 26-kilometer stage, you will first experience the vast sand flats of Rubjerg Knude, which is Denmark's highest wandering dune, then you move past Børglum Monastery, before finishing in Thise.

Lønstrup Rescue House
In Lønstrup, you can find the rescue house on the steep slipway. The house is jointly owned by the Fishermen's Association and the Local History Association for Lønstrup and the surrounding area, and you can get closer to the history of fishing through an exhibition in the rescue house.
You can also take a look at the Lønstrup boat Marly, which was built at Evald Larsen's old shipyard in 1956. Lønstrup Boat Guild gave Marly a careful restoration, and although Marly was fully restored in 2001, it was not until June 17, 2007, that Marly sailed the North Sea again. The trial sail went past Rubjerg Knude to Løkken.
During the summer, the rescue house serves as a gathering place, where you can participate in singing evenings on the square in front of the house. All year round, you can enjoy the view of the North Sea from the picnic house, which is located next to the old rescue house.

Rubjerg Knude
Close to Lønstrup, you can witness the impressive migrating dune of Rubjerg Knude. The highest part of the dune is located nearly 100 meters above sea level, and the top of Rubjerg Knude consists of a layer of drift sand about 40 meters thick, which continues to grow. Slowly but inexorably, the sea gnaws into the coast, and each year several meters disappear.
Right on the edge of Rubjerg Knude stands the lighthouse. Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse was completed in 1900 and is today one of North Jutland's biggest tourist attractions, standing as a symbol of the timeless struggle against the forces of nature. However, the harsh nature and severe autumn storms are eroding the cliff, and the 30-meter-tall lighthouse has moved dangerously close to the edge. In 2019, the time came to save the lighthouse from tumbling into the sea. Led by a local mason from Lønstrup, a remarkable rescue operation/event began to preserve the lighthouse by moving it 70 meters inland into the sand.
You can visit Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse around the clock, and there is no admission fee. From the top of the historic lighthouse, you get an impressive view of the North Sea and Vendsyssel, or you can take a walk in the area and experience the dramatic coastline that the sea is slowly eating away at.

Børglum Abbey
When you visit Børglum Abbey, you step into the historical center of Vendsyssel throughout the entire Middle Ages. Atop Børglum Hill, history has taken shape, and the abbey stands proudly as a symbol of past grandeur and significance.
You might wonder why the abbey, on this remote hilltop, was chosen as a center of power throughout the Middle Ages, but if you visit Børglum Abbey, you can almost feel the presence of the past. During the Viking Age, there was a royal manor on Børglum Hill, and in 1060 a bishopric was established at the site. In the 12th century, the location was chosen as the main seat for the Premonstratensian Order in the Nordic countries, and from the Reformation in 1536 until 1669, Børglum Abbey was even royal crown property.
In 1669, the abbey passed into private ownership and is today owned by Hans and Anne Rottbøll. Together with their children, they represent the sixth and seventh generation of the Rottbøll family at the abbey.
Every day you can experience changing historical and artistic exhibitions in the privately-owned monastery church and exhibition rooms, which cover about 3000 square meters.
