The 19 kilometers stretch from Thise in the inland of Vendsyssel and out towards the coast at Jammerbugt, where you will reach Blokhus. Selected experiences on the stage include Gateway Blokhus and the Blokhus lifeboat station.
Thise-Blokhus
Gateway Blokhus
One of the terminal stations of the stage is located in Blokhus Klitplantage. The dune plantation covers 642 hectares, was planted in the years 1895-1910, and the majority is forested. You will notice that the plantation varies from the hilly Kirkesande to flat dune heaths in the southern parts, from lush forest areas in the north and east to only meter-high mountain pines in the west.
Right in the midst of it all lies Gateway Blokhus. At Gateway Blokhus, you can easily spend a day in nature with activities for the whole family, as the gateway square offers a wealth of opportunities that invite you to a day outdoors: A nature playground, activity and picnic area with tables and benches, barbecue spots, and a nature baking oven. You can bring your own dough and try your hand at baking your own bread in the nature baking oven or over a fire, or you can relax at one of the picnic tables and enjoy a well-deserved break.
Furthermore, the gateway also serves as a starting point for several hiking and biking trails including exercise paths and a 10 km mountain bike route, which is well hidden in the forest floor surrounded by trees and bushes. Near the square, you can jump on the fitness route with installed fitness equipment or take a turn on the health track.
Throughout the year, the gateway is an attractive area, so come and experience what Gateway Blokhus has to offer.

Blokhus Lifeboat Station
Among seafarers, the Bay of Jammerbugt has always been notorious as a treacherous body of water. Violent waves could arise when the wind blew from a certain direction, and with the bay's shallow depth and sandbanks along the shore, a current was created that led to many groundings, meaning a ship ran aground.
The first official statistics for groundings along the Jutland west coast show that over a period in the mid-19th century, 4,166 groundings were recorded. Therefore, in 1847, the king granted 5,000 rigsdaler for the establishment of The North Jutlandic Lifeboat Service, where eight lifeboat stations were built along the Jutland west coast, including one in Blokhus in 1852. The rescuers from Blokhus Lifeboat Station saved 118 shipwrecked people. In 1944, the lifeboat station was removed by the German occupying forces because it was in the line of fire for one of their cannons. In 2009, an exact replica of the original building was constructed. It was a complicated project because it was built using old construction methods.
Today, you can see the unique result of the complicated building project and meet the volunteers from the Friends of the Lifeboat Station, who ensure that the doors to the exhibition, which is free to enter, are opened daily.
